Skylight Replacement & Installation on Long Island

Long Island has skylight companies; it doesn't have one that publishes real prices, prices supply-only sales, and puts an instant size-and-price tool in your hand. That's the version we bring to Nassau and Suffolk: deck-mounted units on the Island's endless shingle roofs, replacements for the builder-grade units of the 1980s and 90s now fogging by the thousands, and copper pan-flashed classics for homes that deserve them.

Leaking skylight on Long Island? Start with a professional assessment from New York's original skylight specialists. Skylights are all we have done since 2005: licensed and insured (LIC# 2084179), VELUX Trained & Approved, an official VELUX dealer, 4.8 stars on Google, and a 10-Year No Leak Warranty on every unit we install. Roofers and handymen do skylights on the side; we are the specialists the roofers call. Leaks are the number one reason Nassau and Suffolk call us. Water dripping from the skylight, a fogged pane, a stain on the ceiling that grows after every storm: none of that tells you what actually failed. On the Island it is usually a builder-grade skylight from the 1980s or 90s whose seals and flashing have gone together. We come out, find the real cause, and give you a straight answer and a price for the right fix, which is usually a new unit installed with the flashing kit in the number, priced on the spot through the Skylight Finder. Active leaks go to the front of the schedule.

Contractors and roofers across the Island are welcome at the supply counter, units spec'd, sized, flashed correctly, and delivered, with our published pricing as your starting point rather than a phone-tag mystery. Homeowners: the Skylight Finder answers the two questions every project starts with before you've spoken to a human.

Long Island skylight questions

My skylight is leaking. Do I call a roofer or a skylight company?

Call the skylight company first. A roofer sees a roof problem and caulks around the unit; it holds for a season and comes back. A skylight specialist can tell you in one visit whether it is the flashing, the curb or the unit itself, and what the honest fix costs. If the roof around it turns out to be the problem, we will tell you that too.

Is it a leak or condensation?

If it drips on cold clear mornings and stops when it warms up, it is usually condensation on an old single-pane or acrylic unit, and the cure is a modern insulated glass skylight, not sealant. If it comes in during or right after rain, it is a leak, and the assessment tells you where.

Can my old skylight be patched?

Usually not for long. The builder-grade units of the 80s and 90s fail at the seals and the frame, not at one spot. We will tell you if yours is the rare exception, but the right answer on most of them is a new unit on a proper curb or flashing kit, and we price that on the spot.

How fast can you come out for a leak?

Active leaks go to the front of the schedule, and our phone is answered evenings and weekends, not just office hours. Call (718) 646-7053 any time, tell us it is leaking now, and it is flagged to us the same day so we can get someone out on Long Island to look at it.

Do you charge more because I am in Nassau or Suffolk?

No. The published unit prices are the same prices, from the current list with tax included. The installed number depends on your roof and your access the same way it does in Brooklyn, and it is confirmed on a free site visit before you commit to anything.

Do I need a permit on Long Island?

It is not the same system as New York City. On the Island the town or village building department has jurisdiction and requirements vary from one to the next. We tell you what your job needs before it starts rather than discovering it halfway through.

Half the skylights on my street are fogged. Why now?

Because they went in at the same time. The builder grade units fitted across Nassau and Suffolk in the 1980s and 1990s are reaching the end of their service life together, and a failed seal cannot be repaired. Doing more than one at once is meaningfully cheaper, because access is paid once.

Can I buy units without installation?

Yes, and Island roofers and contractors do it every week. Units spec'd, sized, flashed correctly and delivered, with our published pricing as your starting point instead of a phone tag mystery. If a job turns out to want our labor, per unit install pricing is one call away.

Do you do copper units on older homes?

Yes. Copper pan flashed classics start at $400 for a fixed unit and $563 venting, with the flashing built in. On the Island's older shingle and cedar roofs they age the way the house does, which a stock aluminum unit will not.

Where on Long Island do you work?

Across Nassau and Suffolk. Great Neck, Manhasset, Port Washington, Roslyn, Garden City, Rockville Centre, Long Beach, Valley Stream, Hempstead, Massapequa, Oyster Bay, Huntington, Northport, Smithtown, Commack, Hauppauge, Islip, Bay Shore, Sayville and Patchogue among them.
