New York Skylight Installers is New York's skylight supply and installation company, serving homeowners, contractors, architects, and building owners across New York City, Long Island, and Westchester. We do one thing: skylights. We supply them, we install them, and we help you choose the right unit for the right job — whether that job is a single bedroom skylight on a Marine Park colonial or a six-unit ridge system on a Manhattan landmark.
We were founded in 2005 as Campbell's Restoration — the first company in New York dedicated to skylights, years before anyone else made it a specialty. Twenty years, a new name, and thousands of roof openings later, the mission hasn't moved: the right skylight, on the right roof, installed once and done right.
A skylight done well changes a room the way no fixture can — real daylight in a kitchen, fresh air in a bathroom, a bedroom that wakes up with the sun. Done poorly, it is a leak waiting for a nor'easter. The difference between the two is product selection and flashing, and both are decided before anyone climbs a ladder. That is where expertise earns its keep.
That focus is what makes us different. Most companies offering skylight work in New York are roofers who install a few units a year as a sideline. We are skylight specialists first, and it shows in the details: every deck-mounted unit we quote includes the proper step-flashing kit, because that is what makes a leak-free installation possible. We never do dome-only replacements, because a new dome on old framing cannot be sealed or warrantied honestly. And every recommendation we make starts with the roof itself — pitch, material, structure, and code — so the product fits the building instead of the other way around.
We stock and sell the complete VELUX line: fixed and venting skylights in deck-mount and curb-mount configurations, solar-powered fresh-air units with rain sensors, Sun Tunnels for hallways and baths, roof windows for attic conversions, copper pan-flashed classics, and the SkyMax large-format series. Beyond that, we supply engineered architectural systems, commercial domes, walkable and structural glass for terraces and roof decks, and custom-fabricated skylights for profiles no catalog covers. Contractors and roofers are welcome to buy supply-only — we will spec the unit, confirm the sizing, and deliver it, with full support if your own crew is installing. Homeowners can buy the unit alone or have our licensed crews handle the complete installation.
We are an official VELUX dealer and VELUX Trained and Approved installer, fully licensed and insured (LIC# 2084179), and we back our work with a 10-year No Leak Warranty and a 5-year labor warranty. Our crews handle everything an installation demands in this city: measurements and field inspection before final pricing, curb construction on flat roofs, hoisting and scaffolding, permits and flagging on commercial work, and clean, weathertight flashing on every roof type from asphalt shingle to built-up flat roofing.
Residential customers call us for new skylights on pitched and flat roofs, replacements for aging or leaking units, venting skylights for kitchens and bathrooms, room-darkening solar shades for bedrooms, Sun Tunnels for dark hallways, and roof windows for top-floor conversions. New York's flat roofs are our home turf — curb-mounted units done right, raised above ponding water and snow — and brownstone and landmark work is a specialty, where we spec units that match the building and pass review.
Commercial clients — general contractors, architects, property managers, and institutions — use us as both a supplier and an installation subcontractor. We quote per-unit labor-only pricing where curbs, hoisting, and scaffolding are by others, or turnkey supply-and-install where you want one point of responsibility. Recent work includes a six-unit VELUX ridge system for the Japanese Consulate on East 67th Street, complete with boom truck, permits, and flagging. For architectural projects, our proposals carry full engineering specifications — dimensions, glazing makeup, finishes, and weights — ready for submittals.
If a fixed unit will serve you better than a venting one, we will say so. If your existing curb is sound and only the unit needs replacing, that is what we will quote. If a product being advertised elsewhere comes with a promise that no longer holds, we will tell you before you spend a dollar. Our goal is simple: the right product on the right roof, installed once, done right.
